Pastella Scarf

It's finally finished!

The scarf in the silk yarn I bought in Japan 2009.

I started this in april last year and it has been my travel knitting.

 

 

It measures about 20 x 220 cm.

Waves take shape

I'm on my way.

I call it a free color pattern, I choose the colors during the work. The yarn with shimmer which I wanted to use in this shawl, I've decided to use in another project. 

In this shawl I use only mohair yarns.

 

 

I like it also as a scarf but it will be a shawl.

Rowan Magazine 54

Crochet in Waves

Summer is wonderful!

I love the life-giving sun, the warmth and the greenery.

However I think of the lovely colorful fall and beautiful knitted and crocheted sweaters and shawls.

 

This wave pattern shawl is an excellent project to use up

residual yarns.



Here are the colors for my 'Shawl in Waves'.

The dark yarn is in dark brown.

 

The pattern is from a swedish crochet book,

 'Virka mera' by Ewa Wincent and Paula Hammerskog.

 

If you know how to crochet a wave pattern you can make  a shawl like this or your own kind of shawl or scarf. 

 

 



Rakel Cowl

Rakel is ready to wear!

This easy crochet pattern is suitable 

for multicolored yarns.

Crochet a Cowl

This beautiful yarn is from my LYS, Svalan.

It's in wool and mulberry silk and handdyed.

I really like pink in a lot of shades and it goes so well with brown. 

 

 

A skein is 100g/400m and that is enough to make a cowl.

I love cowls and scarves. They are so versatile and easy to make in a lot of colors and patterns.

 

 

I found this pattern in an old crochet book.

It's simple and clear but still gives a different impression.

 

Here are links to the technique so that everyone can make it.

 

foundation chain

chain stitch = ch 

slip stitch = sl st

single crochet = sc

 

 

With crochet hook 3.5mm (US E/4, UK 9), ch 312 stitches.

Being careful not to twist your base chain, join into a loop by

slip stitching into the first chain made.

 

Row 1: Ch 1, sc into each ch. End the row with a sl st into the first sc.

 

Row 2: Ch 4, 1 sc into the sl st, *5 ch, skip 5 sc, ( 1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc) into the next sc*, rep **, 5 ch, sl st into the first ch.

 

Row 3: Sl st into the second ch, *(1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc) into the 3ch loop, 5 ch*, rep **, sl st into the sc.

 

Row 4: Sl st into the first ch, *(1 sc, 3 ch, 1 sc) into the 3ch loop, 5 ch*, rep **, sl st into the sc.

 

Repeat row 4 until there is enough yarn left to make the last two rows.

 

Last but one row: sl st into the first ch, sl st into the second ch, 1 ch, sc into the 3ch loop, * 5 ch, 1 sc into the 3ch loop*, rep **, 5 ch, ending with a sl st into the first sc. 

 

Last row: Ch 1, sc into each ch and sc throughout. End the row with a sl st into the first sc.

 

Draw the end through the last loop on the hook and pull tight. Weave in ends.

Leila Shawl

 Now it is ready to wear, the shawl 'Leila' in a larger version.

Very nice with an old-world feel.

 

 

The shawl is designed by Maria Gustafsson.

I repeated the pattern chart three times more

and it turned out to be very good.

 

 

The shades of the ombre dyed wool yarn create

subtle color shifts. 

 

 

The picot edge with beads.
