A Simple Scarf

I have a skein of a very beautiful silk yarn. I bought it in Japan in 2009 when I attended the '10th Nordic Knitting Symposium'. It was an amazing and interesting journey in every way together with the silk yarn I brought back home.

Easy to make, very versatile and a skein might be enough.
I'm talking about a scarf in a simple lace pattern.
This silk yarn is fine, 100g/500m.
I found out that the needle size 3,5mm is perfect for the lace pattern below. 50 stitches gives a width of 18 cm. About the length I'll see.

In a pattern book I found this lace pattern, multiple of 4 + 2:

Row 1: k2, (p1, k3) end
Row 2: p2, (k2tog, yo, p2) end
Row 3: k3, (p1, k3), p1, k2
Row 4: p2, (yo, skp, p2) end

(skp: slip, knit, pass)

Choose a fine and soft summer yarn.
Cast on 50 sts and knit 4 rows in garter stitch.
Continue in pattern knitting and repeat the 4 rows for as long as you want. The length of the scarf is up to you. 150-200 cm and you can wrap it around your neck. Finish with 4 rows in garter stitch and bind off.

An Uplifting Spring Scent

The scent of Cherry Blossom welcomes spring.
The delicate elegant flowers leave a fragrance of light and fresh sweetness.

Cherry Blossom from L'Occitane is a fragrance for spring.

This green and soft floral opens like a breeze of fresh blooming spring with freesia and cherry.
Cherry Blossom and Lily of the Valley give the scent an uplifting feeling of youth and revivification.
The touch of bitterness from rosetree and the softness and
warm from amber and musk leave a scent which is clean and very feminine.
A fragrance that is easy to wear.

Wonderful Cardigans

A new and very nice little knitting book arrived with the post the other day. It's a book by the young knitting designer Hannah Fettig.

In this book you find serveral designs of cardigans in a pure, classic and very versatile design.
I love 'Breezy'.

You find all designs here where you also can order the book.

A Sublime Yarn

There is a yarn which is so soft, so light, so warm, so...
It's like I almost have no words to describe 'Superior' from Filatura di Crosa. It's like a wonderful dream.

I bought this yarn last autumn in Paris. It was the first time I visited the lovely little yarnshop Le Comptoir. They have wonderful yarns mostly in natural fibers.

Cashmere, schappe silk and extra fine merino wool.

Picture from Tahki Stacy Charles Inc.

I'm knitting this pretty little cardigan.
Light as a feather.

The feeling is sublime.

Summer Bag

A leather bag in white for the summer. I've wanted one for a while now. There are a lot of bags to choose from but very often they have too many details or they are too small or too heavy. The most important for me is that the bag can hold magazines and a knitting.
Now I've found it!

Stripes are fun

It's fun to knit stripes. For some reason it seems like you knit faster.
To add a stripe in gold gives this top a boost. It's nice!

A Top with a Stripe in Gold

I have an idea for a design for summer. A simple top in white with stripes in a yarn with a nice drape.
Last winter I bought a couple of skeins of the Rowan yarn 'Panama' in the colours 'Begonia' and 'Dahlia'. When I later on received the yarn in white, 'Daisy', I found it not to be as white as I wanted it to be for the design. So I'll make something else of this nice summer yarn.

In the latest issue of Rowan Knitting & Crochet Magazine, Number 51,  I found this pretty top 'Amber'. It's a simple design with stripes.

In my stash I also have yarns for crocheting. The skein in gold is 'Arista' from Anchor. A stripe in gold will add the little extra to this top, making it more elegant.

Comfortable in Pink

It feels so good to have knit up some yarn from my stash.
I had this for about ten years. But there is no risk at all that I should run out of yarn. The range of yarns and patterns available today just will have you to want more and more... And I love it!

This yarn in linen and viscose is perfect for warm weather garments. The tank top is cool and comfortable.

It goes well with white jeans.

The edges are worked in backward single crochet or
crab stitch. It produces a tailored and nice edge.

Now I'm waiting for the summer with lovely warm days.
