A Scent of Spring

Spring is here. The light, the fresh rain and the smell from the soil and the sprouting vegetation feel like a promise of something new.
Strange and wonderful.

It's time to take out the spring fragrances from the drawer!

Blush by Marc Jacobs

The top note bursts of sweetness from peach and jasmine and acidity from bergamot.
Soon it marries with honeysuckle, orange flower, freesia and jasmine to a fresh and crispy cascade of flowers.
This unite with the clean and creamy scent of sandalwood and musk to this nude, innocent and feminine fragrance.
It feels youthfully sophisticated.
Like spring.

This fragrance is unfortunately discontinued but you can find it on ebay and amazon.

Butterfly in Cross Stitch

It's been a while since I have embroidered. I'm mostly a knitter. It's easy to bring the work with you and I really like to make things that I can wear.
But when I saw the cover of 'CrossStitcher' in January, I fell in love. The butterfly is so beautiful!

I ordered the materials pack and now I'm ready to begin.

A Pink Top for Summer

I start from the original pattern. It's a nice simple design that is easy to change. I'm tall so that already demands some changes.

Even small changes make a new design.

The edging is in garter stitch and the simple square pattern is in reverse stockinette stitch.

Now I'm wondering how the neckline should look like.

Pearls of Powder

My favorite powder in a new beautiful box.
I could not resist the sweet pink brush.

Guerlain Météorites Pearls Illuminating Powder

Inspired by light to create the impression of perfect skin.

A powder of pearls with light-enhancing translucent colors that capture and reflect light.
The effect erase unevennesses and imperfections and softens the lines.
It comes in three color harmonies for three different skin tones.
01. Teint Rosé 02. Teint Beige 03. Teint Doré

01. Teint Rosé

This one suits me perfectly since I have a light and a little rosy complexion.
Every color has its special effect on the skin tone.
Mauve reflects light and brightens up shadowy areas.
Green diminishes redness.
Pink evens the complexion.
Champagne and white reflect light.

This fantastic Guerlain powder also comes as a pressed powder.

A top for summer

This top is from Rowan Knitting Magazine Number 29. The design is 'Essence' and the designer is Kim Hargreaves.
I knitted it about 10 years ago. I like the simple design and the colour.

The yarn, Linen Drape (linen/viscose), is discontinued. But often when I like a special yarn I buy more than I actually need or have time to knit up at the time. So it is with this yarn. I have enough to make a cardigan and another top.

To prepare myself for the knitting with the lovely silk yarn, I'm going to knit a top in this little more 'robust' yarn in this gorgeous colour.

Luxurious Silk

Of course, I shopped yarn on my trip. My stash is quite big but there is always something new that catches my eye. To look at, to feel and to shop yarn is one of my biggest pleasures. The colours and the qualities make me forget about time and space and pictures of creations start to show up for my mind's eye.
This time it was about silk. I want to knit a nice top for summer and here's the yarn.

The yarn is in 100% Shappe silk which is a carded silk with 3-5% sericin, i.e. silk adhesive, left in the fiber. Sericin is a sought after raw material in the cosmetic industry where it's used in creams. The silk fiber is, as wool, both warming and cooling. Silk consists of the same substances as the skin and is very comfortable and pleasant to wear.

The yarn is purchased in Le Comptoir, a little charming yarnshop in Paris.

A Weekend in Paris

My friend in Paris is finally getting her red bolero. I'm going to spend the weekend in this beautiful city. I've been there many times and in all seasons of the year. I love to sit in a café watching people, to take a walk in a park and to discover new parts of the City of Light. Perfume and yarn are things I always shop. We'll see what I bring home this time.

Wonderfully soft

The winter turns into spring and the air is cool and fresh.
So sweet to wrap a warm and soft shawl around your shoulders and neck.
Mohair is light and luxurious. Tomorrow it comes with me to Paris.

To Knit Wristlets with Beads

The wristlet is knitted in thin alpaca in garter stitch with knitting needles in size 2mm. This pattern is in two colours which means that the beads are stringed in the reverse order. The bead which is knitted last is stringed first.

To get the wristlet to look as good as possible I use crochet provisional cast-on to get an open cast-on and then I use grafting stitch when sewing the seam.
