Happy New Year!

I wish you all
a creative
Happy New Year
filled with colours & yarn!

A Sweater for Me!

It's been a while since I knitted a sweater for myself.
I really want this design from Rowan!
But if I will do it as long I leave unsaid.

The design is Malin and it's knitted in Rowan Felted Tweed Aran.

The shade I've chosen is Heather 724.

The knitting of gauge swatches is done! I tend to knit a little tight so to get the right gauge I need to use one size larger needles.

Love the pattern!

Little Warming Flair

I really like wristlets also known as pulse warmers.
Decorated with beads they can turn into pieces of jewelry.
The simple shape and the beads give an impression of tasteful flair.

A friend will give these to her daughter who really
likes to dress in black, white and grey.
I think she will like this gift.

Simple, Stylish & Spirited

The winter issue of Knitscene is out!
It's an american knitting magazine that turns to the new generation young and innovative knitters.

Knitting and other needlecraft are very trendy now.
To make and create something with your own hands and in your own pace is discovered by more and more young women and men as well.
I find this really awesome!

There are so many techniques to try.
To shape a garment with short-rows gives new possibilites. The technique is used to form the tapered stripes
in the shawles and also to create the asymetrical
brim of the chic hat.

To knit a garment from the top down using circular and double-pointed needles creates a seamless sweater.
This cardigan is so stylish and versatile as a cardigan almost always is!

Buy your copy from the Interweave store.

Time to Keep Warm with Beads

Wristlets are so fun to make and so good to have!
They keep you warm and they are decorative.
With their simple shape the embellishment can be varied in many ways.

I like elegant balance when it comes to colors. Often the colors of the yarn and the beads are tone on tone.

The yarn is alpaca 4-ply/fingering and the beads
are from Gütermann.

It appeals to both me and my friend who loves shawls.

You find this design in the book

A shiny yarn, nicer than we had imagined!

Shiny easy knitting!

A Skirt for Winter

My plan was a skirt for fall but it didn't turn out that way.
I used another yarn than in the pattern and it was a nice yarn.
But when the skirt was almost finished I realised that
I didn't like the hem. I unraveled the skirt!
Then I bought the yarn used in the pattern. I knitted samples to find out which kind of hem I would like.

Then I noticed that I needed to buy a circular needle and I had to go Stockholm to get the right one.
But now I've started to knit the wrap skirt again.

The hem is simple and worked in garter stitch.
So far it looks good!

Stripes & A Scalloped Edge

The scalloped edge and the stripes make this shawl a favorite.
This one is for a friend.

I'm going to make one for myself as well but in another color combination and the yarn is already purchased.

Scalloped Shawl knitted in Malabrigo Sock.

both colorful and powerful.

My friend is a colorful woman.
This scarf will suit her perfectly!

Scalloped Shawl

I really like shawls with scalloped edges.
For me they give a softer impression.

This versatile shawl is Scalloped Shawl. It looks good from both sides and you can make it in one color as well as two.
Designer is Breean E Miller and you find the pattern on Ravely and in Malabrigo's book 3.

This color combination is for a friend.
The yarn is Malabrigo Sock and I have ordered it from Loop in London. These lovely earth colors are 802 terracota and 810 cordovan.

So elegant in its simplicity.

The Wrap Skirt Again!

Maybe someone has wondered if the wrap skirt is finished. Well, it almost was. But..., I was not happy with the hem, so I unraveled it.

I love this skirt so now I start it all over again but with the yarn used in the pattern. Though I'm still considering how to make the lower edge to get a nice drape.

Triangular Shawl

A warm and soft shawl is good to have now when it's getting colder.
This design is rather simple and have a pretty lace pattern.

You find a similar design on Ravelry.

This is a book with basic designs to sew and knit.
You can easily develop them as you wish for your own style and taste.

The pretty shawl is knitted in Rowan Kidsilk Haze, a wonderful yarn in mohair and silk. It comes in a lot of lovely colors.
Rowan has a similar design, the shawl 'Birch'.

For both shawls, it says in the pattern that the yarn amount is 3 balls. I've knitted two shawls and in one case that was not enough
but I had to by another ball.
I know now that this has happened to more knitters of this pattern.
To be sure that the amount of yarn is enough, the alternatives are to either cast on less stitches, 279st instead of 299st, or to buy 4 balls.

This color is Marmalade, 596.
